I agree on temp control. I think it's important and extremely helpful. I don't know about absolutely essential though. I think it's a feature that matters to many, but not all. In the case of the Dabox, temp is controlled by pulsing the button.

I helped beta test the Dabox and found the shape and interface to be an improvement over the pen-shape. The swing out coil makes it remarkably easy to load. I'll be launching a full review pretty soon.
