Lunacy Automotive Thread

A mk8 ford transit is an absolute pile of wank...
Its made to fail on every level.. and new exhaust cleaning system is a blatant cash cow.. i dont know how manufacturers are allowed to get away with this.. my local ford dealer has a waiting list of over 60 vans for the same problems.. and these are brand new vans.. jus one thing fails after another.. sensors and electrical gremlins.. sensors are cheap but spending 5 hours at 120 an hour to diagnose is a fucking piss take...
Gonna get a stage 1 remap with egr and dpf delete.. then decat it and remove as much of this electrical bollocks as possible.. like hill start assist that never works...
Fuck ford completely..
Will never buy ford again... my 12 year old renault traffic will always work...

2000 to 2005 is when cars were at their best and made to last...

I went to change a power steering pump line on a friends Ford years ago.
8" was the gap between the two ends.
The factory line was almost 72" and wrapped around the block.
Nothing in the way of the 8" gap so seemingly just for shits and giggles?
Fuck Ford for sure.

Thinking about picking up this bad boy, daughter moved back in to work with us and another vehicle is desirable.

TRD 2007 with 87K on the clock....$26K US$

Yay or Nay ?

If that's what we call the FJ cruiser here I think I remember reading that it isn't the best buy especially for off road

I can't remember properly so more research would be needed to confirm this statement though

Old Ford's were great btw
I had a 76 and and 78 model Fairlane with a 351 Cleveland engine
Was an absolute beast of a car that kept on keeping on
Petrol got too expensive for the old V8 though eventually, spend half your money turning the key lol

They were shit...Holdens ruled! :whipit:
New FJ40 are great vehicles for driving to the ski slopes, not much good off road so many better options available for that task...WRX Subaru cost about the same and would be much more fun (and safe) on the road.
But if you do want to go a little bit off-road the FJ would be good...and reliable!

I was always a Holden man
Till I got the old ford in my 30s and it was an absolute beast

I think a Cleveland engine and ford running gear with a Holden front end would be a brilliant car

Holden front end was better handling probably coz designed for our gravel roads back in the day

Holden Bois already use and want the Ford 9" diff

Mid to late 80s and Holden/ford were much the same car anyway
Conformadores killed the Kingswood

My first car (I purchased at 15 and learned to drive in on forestry roads) was an EH Holden, 3 on the tree and no synchro on 2nd!

Well you jus keep getting cooler.... im a big subaru fan...

@Kellya86 same here.. big Subie fan, comes in super handy in all these snow storms we've been getting in the North East (States) I wanted to get a turbo, wasn't in our budget this year. Safety and relaibily plus the eye sight features are awesome and I won't buy another vehicle without these features again. My neighbor joked with us about it, she says all the the liberal lesbians buy them aka 'lezbaru' :rofl:while she drives her FIAT (Fix It Again Tony)

Been looking at the following for the finance minister,
1613358525621.png

All-wheel drive, 200kw (270hp), and only weighs 1300kgs (2850lbs)
The wrx sti has 133kw/tonne, this has 156kw/tonne so should be a rocket...I will tell the wife it has Toyota reliability and resale along with the safety of AWD for the icy/snow covered road she travels for work!
Too bad about the drab colours though.
Long live the hot hatch!

The v spec is the best looking car ever made in my opinion... (excluding the obvious jag e type, aston db5 and ferrari 240, the truly beautiful machines...
Nissan are underrated here.. lots of good cars.. twin turbo silvia is nice..

Imo car design peaked around 2000...
Maybe caus im getting older i dont know, but new cars jus dont do it for me...
Look at a 2002 bmw m3 compared to now...
Look at a 2002 honda civic type r compared to now...
Why everyone want these weird futuristic shapes...
Or were the cars i like once seen as weird and futuristic....

Same with music... is it me or is it just all shit now... is this what getting old is... im only 34...

My brother is like this, he loves old Toyo Tacomas, or anything not too techie. Personally I welcome newer designs, especially when they mimic the older generation models.

@LesPlenty that Zilla man 1162 horse! Insane. Like you, I like the hot hatch styles, was looking at the impreza wrx, B4 settling on the OB limited wagen:myday:

I like the hot hatch styles

That yaris gr has only got a 3 cylinder engine though...
3 cylinders ok on a bike... never liked any cars with them..
I think the rule is you need at least 1 cylinder per wheel....

Not a fan of electric cars then? I was sort of the same...with motorbikes, just seems wrong to have an odd number of cylinders but I will look past that here only because it is a Toyota so should be reliable.

Not a fan of electric cars then?
Have you seen the build quality of a tesla... a bmw certainly wouldnt be allowed in the wild with the sort of panel gaps i been seeing on teslas...
Also how long do battery packs last.. and how much to replace them.. and what happens to old batteries... even if they are recycled.. is everyone forgetting where the power to charge your electric car comes from..
And for everyone to have an electric car isnt possible...
Just isnt the infrastructure for it.. an i cant see how there ever will be... i live in a flat.. i cannoy charge electric car....
Hydrogen fuel cells are the future im sure....
