Tips Cannabis simple syrup

The fun continues
IMG_20220104_221947.jpgIMG_20220104_222550.jpg

They attempted to package it thoroughly but failed
Probably lost a gram or two
The cap unscrewed
This should last several years as the carbon can be cleaned and used again
Hoping it only takes a gram or two to clean up the tincture reductions in the test tube
IMG_20211225_212734.jpg

I will be getting the homogenizer with sonication in a couple of months if my research shows it can be used in syrups and oils

IMG_20220105_132350.jpgIMG_20220105_133249.jpgIMG_20220105_133431.jpgIMG_20220105_132219.jpgIMG_20220105_132209.jpg

This is what I am doing now
Using the carbonX to figure out how much to use for a scrub
The celite is a must to really clean up the tincture
Made a make shift barrier for the carbon that kind of worked
About half the carbon got through the folds but I was able to recover most of it
Lost about .25-.5 grams
Not bad for learning curve
Also the celite puck was a quickie so it may not have been optimal
IMG_20220105_134439.jpg

Very happy with the results
27 grams cleaned up nice
I will split a 14 gram batch and see how much I can scrub out
This carbon is NOT suppose to grab cannabinoids

According to the folks on future4200 there is a lot of hidden tek in here
Hope color remediation is in there

There are a lot of parallels to wine making and cannabis extraction and color remediation

So here is a night in the freezer after a filter of carbonX and celite
A lot of wax
Unsure if you can see it in the pic
This could have been the celite for various reasons or I may need to dewax which will add a layer to the filtering
I wi!l run it through a PES membrane filter to see if this solves the problem
Still refreshing (actually relearning) organic chemistry
IMG_20220106_115118.jpg

Huge pain in the rear trying to downsize the methods used at the industrial level

IMG_20220106_115118.jpgIMG_20220106_124234.jpgIMG_20220106_124256.jpgIMG_20220106_124311.jpgIMG_20220106_124354.jpg

This is a membrane filter
When I was doing some research I came across these and tried them to see if I could eliminate the activated charcoal and the carcinogenic byproducts
They did not filter out much of the coloring but they did a good job of cleaning up the tincture of husks and debris from the plant material
Filtered the tincture straight from the freezer
Never tested if the membrane filter filtered lipids and waxes etc.
Back in the freezer
I do think the wax is from my poorly constructed ce!ite puck

Forgot to include this
I will go over to nano filtration fully in about 6 months
Its not for everybody and you can do a decent job with a coffee filter if you don't mind the taste

Pear syrup
I will not say that you cannot taste any cannabis flavor but I cannot detect it at all
Pear is a very weak flavoring and it has trouble overpowering the cannabis taste
I taste pear, could be ramped up by using 5 pears instead of 3

Pear and vanilla are going to be my flavor bases and I will extract and concentrate the other flavorings

Just a quick note
You can flavor the syrup with beef or chicken stock that is reduced to a tablespoon
It can be added to steak sauce and barbecue sauce
I infuse barbecue sauce and use it on grilled pineapple

The above syrup has 22 grams in 300ml of syrup
The math will make my head explode but it is roughly 1500-1700 milligrams

About 75mg A tablespoon so I will use a half tablespoon and get about forty doses

About to process tincture for gummies
Going to try to work the syrup into the above recipes
In the layered gummy video there is a coconut pineapple gummy that uses coconut milk which will allow the use of infused oil with the sugar carrier
These gummies will all be full filtered and some of the recipes may not be replicated without a thorough filtering

I'll be working with a whipper on video soon and all those recipes involve heavy filtering
May have to save them for a YouTube channel as the interest may be minimal

Got some flack for my beef and chicken flavored syrup
It works
You are adding it to sauces that already have sugar and are going over beef and chicken already
A1 and Smithfields barbecue for example, use it as a garnish or topping after cooking

Yup. Read the bread label -- aspartam is there. I dropped bread because of that. Always test what you take.

Really need to start reading labels
Purged most processed food from my diet but a few convenience items like boxed stuffing are still there
Making bread is not hard but....

Cherry flavoring in the making
IMG_20220220_100307.jpgIMG_20220220_100327.jpg

About a cup of cherries reduced
May do a small batch syrup of 100ml or less, maybe 60ml
I refer to this as a small batch super concentrate that is dosed in fractions of a TEAspoon
I will get in the habit of weighing them in grams when I start writing recipes

Thank you Janie and Scott

See a what a bunch of people can get done with enough nagging

Syrup will go in seamlessly, I think
Oil may be a little more of a challenge
Their oat milk recipe is awesome too

IMG_20220726_164115.jpgIMG_20220726_164134.jpgIMG_20220726_170508.jpgIMG_20220726_170512.jpgIMG_20220726_170625.jpgIMG_20220726_170640.jpgIMG_20220726_170737.jpgIMG_20220726_170750.jpgIMG_20220726_170857.jpgIMG_20220726_170929.jpgIMG_20220726_171844.jpgIMG_20220726_173044.jpg

After getting a lot of anecdotal information I have begun adjusting the recipe for the syrup

Most of the requests come in the 35-50mg range in small servings
The syrup above is between that range in guesstimate only
After a lot of reading and collecting data on several sites I have come to the conclusion that all these numbers that are printed on lqbels are suspect at best
But, it is all we have to go on

So far most people want the infused products in high mg low volume carrier
Considering it is rich simple syrup and coconut oil this is a good idea

The above oil in the small mason jar comes in at the same mg per serving as a TEAspoon of syrup
The oil is a 1 gram serving
Weighing the oil when it is solid is easier for me
1 gram melts pretty fast

So the first set change is that I use the whole batch of simple syrup which is over 2 cups
The simple syrup recipe content is 2 cups of sugar to 1 cup of water
To this ratio you are going to add 5 grams of 210S

This will give you a much more fluid syrup that can withstand adding things like dry cocoa to make chocolate syrup

Another issue is mistakes
Folks are burning their brownies and cookies and other oven baked edibles
I'm going to focus more on infusing things like sauces, frosting, ganache along with full infusion recipes like pie filling

YouTube is getting very hostile toward cannabis content so I may have to use a different platform to help me produce the videos

So I have not been idle despite the rumors
The syrup is in circulation with a couple of folks and good results so far

IMG_20220728_145908.jpgIMG_20220728_145917.jpgIMG_20220726_170929.jpgIMG_20220726_173044.jpg

Because the syrup is 40mg A teaspoon you can just add it along with the monin and it will blend seamlessly
Drinks, hot and cold, are easy to dose
Chocolate milk to chocolate martini
No separation and thorough distribution and suspension

The vanilla creme in coffee is off the charts and I hate most flavored coffees
I think the fall collection flavors will be fun

Vanilla creme soda like back in the day
40mg and no cannabis taste
I was contemplating introducing terpenes back into the syrup but the creme soda tasted too good

IMG_20220729_183811.jpg

So far the preference is for the syrup to act as a dosing mechanism rather than a base
Basically you can run around with a small container of the syrup and dose your edibles through the day
Add it to your drink, condiment or any other part of your meal that can be sweetened

This is how I will present the syrup in n its main form with larger infused batches of syrup for sorbet, pie filling and other high volume foods
Who wants to eat a teaspoon of ice cream
3 scoops and dial 911

CBD flower is becoming more popular
I have a feeling that the higher thc cultivars of cbd flower are going to work better than the cbd flower that is less than 1% thc
After having experimented with well over a 100 different cultivars the last year I have noticed the different effects each one brings
Never gave the entourage effect much thought because I know my processing eliminates it
My thoughts have changed but the taste is more important at this point
Thought about putting terpenes back in but the sodas and seltzer taste too good to F with the flavor profile

Here is the kicker with all this
The flower had been sitting in a mason jar for well over 6 months in the freezer decarbed
It leeches a lot of crap but not nearly as much as I had anticipated
The potency is there and and an extra gram of carbonX https://extraktlab.com/carbonx/ cleaned everything up nicely
Also, the tinctures I've had in there for several months have retained potency
I got rejected for lab access by the corporate useless capitalist assholes MCR LABS (Rot in filth you money grubbing sacks of shit)

I say the above because I got backed up with flower after a medical incident and needed to process 6+ month old flower (stored properly)
Went from backed up flower to backed up frozen decarbed flower to single stage filtered tincture to full filtered tincture
All over the course of about a year
The point is that if you store everything in an appropriate manner it will sill retain a good portion of its potency in various states of processing
Ended up being an unintended experiment

Here are some pics of the CarbonX being separated and recovered for reuse
Looking into more efficient ways to do this as I gain experience
I think the carbon can be filtered to remove the celite, more research
Since carbonX is a little expensive it will be nice to get a few runs out of each gram
Think I can get it to the point where it may only cost $1-$2 per filtering, it's about $6-$10 if I throw it out after 1 use

The tincture stores well in the freezer so this may be a once a year process

Latest batch
The oil and the syrup have 4500mg each

The syrup works very well and you can mitigate the "plant" taste with a little effort and learning

It is going to come down to insuring every citizen can grow their own
I go to high thc kush cake and gmo for pure pain relief
The sub 20% thc is my go to for everything else
I enjoy myself more and have come to appreciate Sativa like blue dream, Panama red and Columbian gold as well as the Thai cultivar/chemovar

So making CBD syrup should be simple since I have my thc syrup recipe....
Took over a month to sort out the decarb of cbd flower, still clueless
Settled on a 2X run in the ardent fx as recommended by the maker

Going to see if a recreational product like the syrup can cross over slightly into the medical with a shorter acting sleep alternative to prescriptions and infused oil (which has a longer lasting effect that is heavier)
A few complaints about feeling sedated when waking up from oil based edibles

IMG_20220829_181026.jpg

1gram RSO dart from Sweet Dirt medicinal in Eliot Maine

If you are new to edibles I will crank out a quick video showing how ridiculously easy it is to infuse oil with ready made rso
Take 1 part mct/coconut oil and mix with 1 part rso oil
Want to get fancy, warm both oils up in a hot water bath
Actually recommended, makes the mixing easier and more thorough
