Accessories Old Mate Designs

Hello everyone, I'm Ben from Medical Cannabis Hardware.

I'd just like to say thankyou for everyone's support so far on the development of these grinders!

Ultimately I'm here for you guys. I believe that transparent development of products is what creates great products. This is why i have created a YouTube channel to share the process/progress and most of all gain community feedback to drive my products to be the best i can create.

I have a few key people that are helping test this 3 piece design before release to try and identify any potential issues or further tweaks that could be done. Then these will be in production for the Pre orders.

I will be making progress videos along the way and will share the links here for you. If you have any questions or concerns about the 3 piece MEDGRIND's please don't hesitate to let me know.

Thankyou all for your support so far im absolutely stoked to be here!

Great to see you here Ben
The community loves when a company has a presence on the forums directly
I love the look of your design and look forward to trying one
It certainly looks like you have a great product at a reasonable price
Look forward to watching you grow and what you have to offer in the future

Welcome to the asylum @MCH . Good to have you here.

Love this!

Ok, i have made some refinements to the top piece.
Size has increased to 62.5mm
It's now more natural to hold and feels better when gripping.
Increased size means slightly bigger grinding area.

Looks a lot nicer/refined im my opinion.

Keen to hear your thoughts!

Absolutely love the new look
That looks like it will feel great in the hand and assist the grinding grip too
More fidget spinnery too lol

Still got a few pre-orders left @MCH?
Now I have access to medicinal herbs I found I might need another grinder for keeping stuff separated (I only had one strain for years) giving all my others grinders away and am trying to justify one for myself after saying I would only be tempted by 316S?S.

Once you have the grinder sorted you might have to bring out an Aussie-made ball injector head. I know @felvapes has a few ideas and I would like an 18mm injector head that has a 12mm internal outlet so it can use Arizer stems(14.5mm would do nicely) by fitting over them.

Hey mate, Yes i still have some pre orders available.

I can certainly make you a one off 316SS but it'll be more costly. But also would make a super premium grinder! There is a bit of a price difference between 304 / 316 billet. 316 is substantially more difficult to machine in comparison to 304 (certainly not impossible, just need to run everything a lot slower).

I'm not sure what the concern or reason for 316 but in my opinion even 304 is probably overkill for this grinder.

If you have a look here you can see a list of all the medical devices/implants approved for manufacture out of 304ss. Granted no surgical hardware is made from 304.
Anyway happy to make a one off or even a small batch of 316 if people are keen.

My goal in life is to make a sterling silver one! I had a 3d Printing prototype company quote one up to be printed from Stiver and it was roughly $2500AUD. (maybe in the future if these things prove popular i could do a competition to win one!)

I'm definitely open to suggestions for a vape in the near future (once i have this 3 piece nailed and pre orders in you guys hands)

Thankyou!!

I own a boat and I live next to the sea!
I also have a huge 304 S/S CVault that has surface rust at the spot welds.
I was all set to pull the trigger a NTN bearing 3-piece and now you might make me/us a special 316... how much are we looking at:eyebrow:

A quick google search says that 304 is harder - so the teeth should stay sharp longer
But 316 has the extra rust proofing

Ahh well that makes sense! Let me see if there is any offcuts of 316 at work and ill get back to you. I'll work something out mate

Any availability in the US?

Love my SC because of the size
My hands give me trouble periodically
Your design is exactly what I am looking for if it is close in size or bigger than the SC

He does post overseas
And at a decent price too, I hope some of the us sellers can take note of this when posting to us here

I have one on pre-order, but Ben was also gracious enough to send me one of his test units he had chucked in the bin
It is not a final version and has a 3d plastic bottom, the shape is not as ergonomical for grip and he has changed the teeth on newer revisions

But man
This has just retired the bcg atm
.5 g done in 3 turns
A fourth turn and a bit to make it spin free again
Stunned at the speed
I did 1.5g next
Slightly harder to start but nothing too difficult (the new finger shapes/scallops will help too for grip)
A couple more turns than 3 obviously, but super quick and then free spins
No real smears of weed on the floor and sides at all - the bcg gets smears with this bud
The grind is nice and fluffy
Like a mix between the fine and medium of the bcg

I'm truly impressed with the speed and ease of this grinder

If the teeth remain sharp and it doesn't gum up and prevent the spinning
This is an absolute beast of a grinder
I thought it looked great from videos
Having used one - and a reject bin version - I am a convert and can say well done Ben on an amazing design

Can't wait to receive the finalised design
It's heaps fun to play with too
I found myself playing with it all night like a fidget spinner lol
I have had to stop myself grinding all my weed
It's fun to use

Such bad luck and news about PayPal
I hope you can get it sorted soon
I know there are reasons that John from jcvap couldn't use PayPal too for the pockety
They must be coming down on anything weed related

Big props for this grinder mate
And for being active on the forums yourself

Ok, Update time.

I have the old prototype next to the latest prototype for reference. This latest prototype is testing all the latest features listed below.

I have also been experimenting with less teeth in the grinding area. Less teeth promotes an easier initial start but i find the grind can become inconsistent. With my testing I have come to the conclusion that my original prototype has the best amount of teeth for grind consistency and ease of use, so that is what were going to roll with!

Now 62.5mm Wide up from 60mm,
Added inward scalloping on the sides and top to aid in ease of gripping,
Top of the "Post" is now double chamfered (one at 45deg, one at 30deg) to make the lid pretty much fall into place now.
Bearing magnet is now pressed in from the bottom to allow for the post chamfering.
Bottom chamber is now much much bigger.
Bottom chamber now locates in 6 positions instead of 3.
New Outer teeth design on the lid to promote the herb going back into grinding area.
Chamfered holes to help promote herb to fall though to bottom chamber.

I'm absolutely stoked with how these things have developed and im at the point where i think its the best i can make these.

I feel these things are super refined and feel awesome to hold and use. I'm super excited to get these things into you guys hands!

Ok now for the semi bad news.

Unfortunately, The price of my MEDGRINDS will increase approx $20AUD/$13USD AFTER pre order due to a number of unforeseen factors (including the latest payment battle). This will bring the total price to around $105 USD after pre order.

At the moment i can still only accept bank transfer for the pre orders. I'm working with a few merchants that specialise in my industry to be able to accept card payments again.

Again, thanks for your support everyone. You will be rewarded very soon!!

Nice work mate
The final product is looking schmick
Can't wait to try the upgraded version
I've been absolutely loving the reject bin one

It seriously is putting the bcg to bed
No hype

I finally managed to make a smear
Got a new pick up from the chemist today
Extra sticky buds
The grinder still chewed it up with ease and free spins quickly
But in the vein of being honest I thought I'd show the first smear

I think it would be a lot worse on my bcg which would actually need the walls qtipped after such a bud to keep it running smoothly

Still a winner for me by far
Hanging for the final units
I saw elsewhere Ben posted his friend is making aftermarket 3d printed grips/cases for the grinder too if people need extra grip which will be great for those with arthritis etc

Also for context I am still using the reject bin model and the teeth are longer than the revised/finalised versions that are almost ready to go out

Now the big question

Does stainless steel hold up under repeated grinding without creating a dust or sediment from metal rubbing together?
I need a fine grinder asap (think asap is in June)
No metal on metal contact
That's one of the features with the design and bearing
I think it's one of the reasons it works so well/fast too
