Lunacy Reading and Studying with Cannabis

ataxian

In a BLACK HOLE!
The US. We bullied the rest of the world into it, basically. Carrot, stick, you name it.

New Hancock - Magicians of the Gods? Newer?
I’ve read a number of his.

Randall Carlson I know by reputation, we’ve had many friends in common of the years but have not met.
He and I have common interests.
I am into pre-civilization B-4 da ice age.
We were advanced once?
2-night I’m studying RANDALL CARLSON then MAGIC of the GODs by Hancock.
Carl SAGAN is one of my favorites!
Christoper HITCHENS is my mentor! (dead now)
CANNABIS help’s me study!
Depends what it means 2 U?
Joe Rogan has a PODCAST very relevant 4 2-day!

This is a Nova episode exploring the complete extinction of large mammals in North America.
Much attention is given in it to the possible role of an impact scenario. It was controversial in scientific circles, because it would be an extraordinary event, so where’s the crater?

Now that the crater has been located, we can see that this Nova piece takes the story right up to the beginning of the search for it.

Nova at its very best.

I've moved the last 3 posts to this thread from the Coffee/Cannabis thread to keep that one on topic and because I feel they fit here better. If you would prefer to start a new thread, let me know @ataxian @ClearBlueLou

Interesting perspectives...

Any suggestions?

This title's fine, just thought you'd started another thread at @ataxian's suggestion.

Anyway...

THE CONSCIOUS MIND
IN SEARCH OF A THEORY OF CONSCIOUS EXPERIENCE

David J. Chalmers
Department of Philosophy University of California, Santa Cruz Santa Cruz, CA 95064.
July 22, 1995

Just started - high hopes. Very disappointed by Dennett's Consciousness Explained in grad school days. Wasn't the only one, it seems. Came across an interview with the author in NYT about AI and virtual reality.

Consciousness is the next problem on the bucket list, now that the confusion over free will in a tenseless universe is resolved.

Sounds wonderful, my friend. Hope you two had a great time.

I don't do a lot of reading stoned....cause I can't remember shit when I do.

But, on the subject of books, you might find these two interesting and in your lane.

God: A Human History

God Particle: If the Universe Is the Answer, What Is the Question?

@Baron23 I love food & my wife does as well.
Our first date was at A SUSHI restaurant in PARIS.
I always liked book’s since I WAS ABLE TO READ.
TARZAN WAS MY FIRST SERIES.
SURFING BOOKS MOST OF MY GROWING UP.
AT LEAST I LEARNED TO READ FAST BY SURFING?
My 1st year in High School my reading teacher taught me how to read fast.
OK she was hot looking so I obeyed!
Many writer's drink SCOTCH.
I like to VAPE and read.
My retention is decent for the amount I vape?
I read mostly motivational books and management focused when I was building my future?
At 52 I had to retire?
So reading and vaping are my pass time!
SCIENCE is cool 2-me!

Competed with a grade school pal to read a book a day, including ERB.
For work, on any given day, might need to read a few hundred pages of government reports, rules, guidance, etc. Occasionally, some science.
Not much patience for it outside of work, but the current US administration demands it. Probably foolish to try to add books.

Sadly, no patience for Chalmers. Verbose and disorganized. Rather than edit, he expects readers to choose the level of verbosity they'd like. (To be fair, he provides guidance for hacking through his jungle of words).

Found this TED talk where he was forced to be concise.

Sounds like a disappointing non-answer.

Next! Any recommendations in recent consciousness or cosmology? Watched some of the "Before the Big Bang" interview series. Found it similarly disappointing, for the most part, but it's clear that our universe is far bigger and stranger than we thought - again.
