Lunacy We all gotta eat, right? (Food Porn)

We get tired of eating meat every now and then and want a 'veggie night.' Last night was one of those nights. I made 'Garden Minestrone' which is basically a vegetable stew that is served with some grated parmesan on top. And pairs really well with a bit of Brie cheese....

I keep forgetting to drop a picture or two in here, sorry Mom.
Had vaping guests last night so I kept it together enough to cook but not get any other pictures.
Did BBQ'd veg with Creole seasoning, mushrooms filled with cheese and the chopped stalks with a bit of oregano.
Tried hasselback spuds on the grill and they came really nice and Smokey.
Steak had cracked black pepper on, ribs were done for about 2 hours in a roasting bag in a medium heat oven before going on the grill and duck breast which was sat in soy sauce and 5 spice for a good few hours.

Ok . . . now that my kitty is all better, and my house has been thoroughly cleansed and sanitized, I had the opportunity to try out my birthday/Christmas present to myself which I have been sitting on for a while.

Its called the Kenyon City Grill and this thing is amazing. You guys probably don't remember but I lost my beautiful Tec infrared grill in my divorce a while back. That thing was amazing. Alas, I now no longer have a house but live in a lofted condo . . . so gas and charcoal are OUT. I needed a reduced smoke, electric grill to serve my needs moving forward. One that would meet my high standards . . .

So I introduce the Kenyon City Grill. These guys make portable electric grills and built-ins for home and boats. Very, very high quality, reduced emissions, I just used it in my kitchen under the built in microwave vent with no problems and that was preheating to a searing 650*F before putting the steak on. The system is ingenious and the flavor, sear and control fantastic. I would have no hesitation recommending this product to anyone needing an electric indoor grilling device, portable grill, or camping/boating solution.

The pics below are my first attempt with this grill and I am very happy with the results. For a bone in rib-eye, at max temp, it took 3 minutes/side for a perfect medium and the juices were incredible . . . :homer: Yes there is a little char but that was a piece of fat so I should be able to mitigate that easily next time.

Anyways, this Kenyon grill is the official grill of the Boston Red Socks for good reason. Just give this thing some juice and you will have virtually the same results as I had with a $4,000k+ infrared grill. Looking for a deal? I got mine by waiting for a sale and it was $399. Black Friday will probably be the next sale.

Anyways . . . just up drinking some fine Spanish Tempranillo and enjoying the best steak I have had in 3 years. More l8tr . . . :peace:

@Popi I am so jealous of your tomatoes... I didn't grow any this year and haven't been able to make it to farmer's market. Are the Cherokee Purple real sweet?
Aww thanks mom. Good crop this year even tho I lost both of my Mortgage Lifter plants and a red beefsteak to something.
I just returned from the beach and picked what looks like the last of this years maters.
The cherokee purples are big ,thin skinned ,low in acid ,with almost no core and one thick slice can often fill up a piece of bread.I guess they're a little sweet compared to a beefsteak or tart hybrids but not grape or cherry tomato sweet..Some say they're a little smokey. It's one of my favorite heirlooms.

It's really difficult to find a good restaurant up here at my cottage. Lots of places for burgers or 'all you can eat' fish fry. But no 'fine' dining unless you drive for a good hour. With one exception; an old trout fishing lodge that's been around for over 40 years. Best food around and well worth the little drive to get there (dodging deer).

Trout Hemmingway.....

We went out for a birthday celebration at an amazing Italian Trattoria last night. The food.... omg.... so damn good. We stuffed ourselves.

We started with a couple of antipasto...

Scamorza alla Piastra (this is a smoked mozzarella)

Beef Carpaccio

And for my dinner entree, I had Tagliolini al Ragu di Agnello (pasta with a lamb ragu)

Now something my wife whipped up for my birthday dinner;
Tassie oysters(feeling frisky);
