Just found this thread today, and now I am hungry. I seriously enjoyed the food pix. Yum!

Would you believe I forgot to take a picture of the damned sweet potato dish? :doh: However, I have something better. My daughter in laws cooking lol...

The appetizer was a lovely lemon thyme ricotta dip with mozzarella baked in a bread bowl.

There were all the traditional sides of mashed potatoes, stuffing and green beans... but the stars of the night were the turkey breast and ribs that my son smoked all day:

Of course... no holiday get together of ours is ever complete without our Danish tradition of toasting with ice cold Akvavit.

I ate way too much.... my stomach hurts. Why do we do this to ourselves on Thanksgiving? Why?
With all of that delicious food, lovely surroundings and great company, how could you not?

Today I have duck breast (slightly overcooked dammit), with very spicey sweet potatoe chips... or fries to you Americans...
The duck is still melt in mouth good...
When I was in BLACK POOL I had FISH & CHIPS with BROWN GRAVY with MASHED PEAS down with ROOM TEMPERATURE DARK BEER that was so good 2 me?

Went to LIVER POOL 2 a concert!
ENGLAND was fun 2 visit!
SURRY 4 school!

NEWS PAPER was used 4 the wrapping?
The BRITISH knew how 2-B GREEN!

CANNABIS was mixed with tobacco?
Growing up SURFING we never mixed CANNABIS!

I did learn 2 drink wine in FRANCE
RABBIT & DUCK we’re not bad 2 eat!
LIVER POOL, ABBEY ROAD had great music & grub!

Made lasagna last night from a new recipe. Instead of ricotta, you make a bechamel with Boursin cheese in it. The meat sauce had a few ingredients that surprised me as well; balsamic vinegar being one. It turned out fabulous (if I may say so myself :tongue:) and this recipe will now be my standard 'go to' for lasagna.

how greeks make pastichio..similar?

prefer using no boil sheets, i can b lazy sometimes when prepping for high volume.
The taste was similar to pastichio...although the spices are a bit different. Pastichio has cinnamon whereas this sauce didn't.

And I did use the no boil sheets (or oven ready)... but I parboiled them a minute this time so that they were flexible. I find they break when spreading the sauces and cheese otherwise.

I have a hankering for mousakka.... that might have to be the next sheet pan of goodness I make. :biggrin:
 
yes!
moussaka i love, grew up eating it Balkan style with chopped, onions, meat n slices potato, no béchamel, but an egg mixture as a binder, various,herbs n spices. So delicious, u inspired me motg!
tonight i must entertain a meat n potato crowd and a no carb crowd. Dont feel up for entertaining or cleaning this holiday season, Obligations. But my in law guests are receiving dry herb vapes as gifts so we all gonna,get down later!
