My grandparents always had a "clicker" (actually makes an audible "click" when used) for their tv growing up (60's-?)... worked fine, power, channels and volume, what more do you need when you only receive like 6 stations...? They were also the first house on the block to even get a tv... one of those big oval ones with a big lens for a screen... thing still worked in the 70's when I used to check it out in the basement whilst playing street hockey or flying paper airplanes...
