I definitely don’t like everything that Facebook does but some of the groups have been helpful to me. I have a rare -ish form of sarcoma (about 1% of cancers, mine is about a 10th of a percent of all of that of that, I think.) no matter what it is you’re looking at maybe 500 cases a year. There are something like 300 accounts in our group and many are inactive because the account holders are deceased. It’s extremely aggressive and for some reason I’ve beaten the odds multiple times and my oncologists can’t explain why I’m an outlier. Anyway, my ability to be able to connect with other cancer survivors is a good thing.

I still get a kick out of it when people post messages ON FACEBOOK THREADS and rail against Facebook and how it’s destroying our society and right to privacy.

I get also laugh when people who dont seem to grasp how Facebook works respond publicly about advertisers “shitting” on their Facebook timeline. I’ve watched people do it on Instagram too.

The days of Telnet gateways, Usenet groups and IRC are gone. I wouldn’t expect these people to know about those.
