Mildred Bailey is my new obsession. A native American born in Tekoa, WA, she came on to the jazz scene of the 1930s and rivaled the more well known sirens. It's a shame she was, and is, not more well known. A great story for sure.
If you like this music and want to get a Mildred Bailey CD, I highly recommend 'The Rockin' Chair Lady'. It's well produced and the sound quality is excellent for music of that time.
