Battered Lucille Ball after filming the famous grape stomping scene in 1956’s “Lucy’s Italian Movie” episode of I Love Lucy.
In a 1974 interview with Dick Cavett, Lucille Ball went in-depth on the making of the infamous scene in which she got in a fight in the grape vat, revealing that the fight was scripted but the other woman didn't understand that it was supposed to be phony, and as a result she wound up actually beating the hell out of Lucy. The audience and crew were oblivious to what was really happening and the fight stretched on so long that it had to be severely edited in the final cut of the show. Despite the hardships she endured during the making, Ball cited this as her favorite episode of the series.
A bit of rock n roll trivia I didn’t know about.
The song “ In A Gada Da Vida” by Iron Butterfly was originally suppose to be “ In the Garden of Eden”. They were were high on drugs and alcohol the singer sang In A Ga Vida instead. The band liked it better. So the song became “In A Da Godda D Vida”
When sperm whales need a nap, they take a deep breath, dive down about 45 feet and arrange themselves into perfectly level, vertical patterns. They sleep soundly and still for up to two hours at a time between breaths, in pods of 5 or 6 whales, presumably for protection.
No one knew whales slept vertically until a 2008 study documented the behavior. And no one captured a really good photo of it in the wild until 2017.
