Lunacy We all gotta eat, right? (Food Porn)

I'm not much of a Sandwich Guy. Today I scored some fresh baked "bolillo rolls" made with whole wheat. The aroma was so intoxicating, and the rolls so warm and soft, I had to go for it:
-Muffaletta Olive salad (with pepperoncini)
-Grilled Salmon
-Havarti cheese
-Classic Kowalski style Coleslaw
-Guldens Spicy Brown
It went fast!

Making Norwegian Lefse, we get together every year and make tons of these. The preferred method of consumption is to spread butter and sugar on them, and roll them up to eat them. They're real good with green chili, just like a burrito  . The dough is potato, butter, flour, salt, and sugar. That's all rolled out and cooked on special Lefse. I never heard of Lefse until I married a Norwegian. Just be thankful it's not Lutefisk !

We then had a nice meal starting with a classic wedge salad Blue cheese with bacon, diced tomato, red onions, and bacon bits.

Main course roasted beef tenderloin with a cabernet sauce and fresh asparagus with just lemon and salt.

I married a Norwegian and I made these with my MiL for many years. Delicious potato tortillas! I never enjoyed them with butter and sugar. Rather I liked to load them up with turkey, dressing and gravy, roll that up and eat them.

Every winter we would make hundreds of them and everyone would take a big bag home for the freezer.

My FiL was resposible for flipping the lefse and he would whittle a long pointy stick for the occasion.

Thanks for the post @bulllee ! It brought back many happy memories!

Love a classic Wedge!
If they are selling this item: https://www.lefsetime.com/store/Bet...NrvYo3vZkLIuYPdQZ4-crb6RCgKPOobwaAmc_EALw_wcB
as a Lefse Grill and not a "Crepe Maker", then that makes it official!
I will try this out in the near future, to increase my culinary repertoire to include at least one Norwegian specialty item.
It is a blast to make. But you need a group of people, that's what makes it fun. Two people could do it , but it would be really slow  . You'll also need a Jedi master of Lefse to teach the group, or an old Norwegian to show you all the nuances . That's a cool grill, but you'll need some other things like turning sticks , Lefse boards and covers. Here's a link to a " complete kit"

I've never used the mix as that's blasphemy amongst Norwegians :lmao:. Every good Norwegian has a recipe that's been handed down their family to the next generation. And every family always has the best recipe ! I know you like seafood, have you tried Lutefisk ? Now there's an authentic dish everyone should try once in their lives :rofl:!

I have not tried it. I have traveled the world, but never was in a Nordic Country.
I would try it without hesitation.
I read this about it:
It is said that half the Norwegians who immigrated to America came to escape the hated lutefisk, and the other half came to spread the gospel of its wonderfulness. That same love-hate relationship is alive and well today. Across the North, however, an appreciation for the lye-soaked fish certainly seems to abound.
Bring it on!

A UK takeout customer was disgusted after finding an entire chicken head in her box of KFC hot wings.
A shocking photo showed the head — complete with eyes and a beak — encrusted in crunchy batter straight out of the frier.
After ordering from KFC Feltham in Twickenham, England, a woman named Gabrielle left it a two-star JustEast review.
It read: “I found a fried chicken head in my hot wings meal.
“Put me off the rest of my meal, urgh.”
On the photo posted on Instagram account Takeawaytrauma, people were quick express their horror.
One user said: “I really wish I could go back in time by 2 minutes when I hadn’t seen this.”
“What does it take to get one star?”
“At least you know it’s real,” another joked.
Others claimed that seeing the animal’s head gave better awareness of what people are eating.
“Fried chicken head is still fried chicken in all fairness,” said one user.
“If you eat meat there’s nothing to complain about you’re just faced with the reality of what you’re eating for once.”
“If you can’t handle that your food is a dead animal then you shouldn’t be eating meat,” another agreed.
KFC said on Twitter that it was “baffled” as to how the whole head had snuck in and joked that it was “the most generous two-star review ever.”
It also told the Sun Online: “We were genuinely surprised by this photo. Since Gabrielle got in touch, we’ve been looking into how it happened.
“Put simply, we serve real chicken — and we’re proud of that — but this has clearly slipped through the strict processes and checks in place with our suppliers, partners and teams, who freshly prepare everything in our restaurants.

“It’s true that even the best laid plans can on rare occasions go awry. And this is an incredibly rare one.
“It’s one we’ve taken incredibly seriously — already putting further measures in place with our suppliers as well as retraining our teams to prevent it happening again.
“That said, it doesn’t change Gabrielle’s experience — so we’ve reached out to her and she’s now accepted some free KFC on us.”
It added that she and her family had also been invited into the restaurant to see how the preparation was done and rest assured that no more chicken heads were going to turn up in her hot wings.

:doh::hungry::rofl:

These have got to be illegal, because they taste so good ! I hope I get this right, Balsamic, Bourbon glazed, bacon wrapped mission figs, stuffed with either Blue cheese, or goat cheese . My favorite was the Blue Cheese. Compliments to my daughter for coming up with this recipe.

Yesterday was a bit blurry.... and I didn't get these posted up. And, of course, I didn't get pics of everything served. But....here's a bit of what we had on Christmas.

Cheese tray - Cotswold, Caramelized onion Boursin, and Brie with sour cherry preserves.
