No palm trees @momofthegoons but Flinders Is has plenty of deserted beaches and barely any sign of people but the ones you meet are great. We were given crayfish, local produce including wine (the best-tasting tomatoes I have eaten), one guy even gave us the use of his spare car for 5 or 6 days so we did not have to break camp to go sightseeing at the more easily accessed spots.

I have driven up to the high chaparral (high desert) east of LA on the way to China Lake Naval Test Range (which is def in the middle of nowhere) in the spring just as the flowers bloomed for their brief life. It was fucking awesome.
