Lunacy We all gotta eat, right? (Food Porn)

I always have the best of intentions of taking pics... but...

Had a party Saturday night and served many appetizers and some desserts. Would you believe I only got one pic of the first thing I put out? Guests started arriving and that's as far as I got with the pics...

One of my New Year's resolutions for the forum is to get more pics of the food I make lol...

Omg @Greyhair that looks divine..... I have never mastered yeast. And funny enough I just bought some at the store this week to give it another try. Care to share your recipe?

The other thing I'm in awe of are people who can throw some good stuff into a pot and make an even better soup. I've been able to do it a few times but it's always hit or miss. I mean... I can follow a recipe. That's no challenge. I'm talking about the people who just wing it and hit a home run every time. Fresh herbs... a little of this and that...

I am a good cook. I can create many things. But I need to master those two things; yeast breads and soups.

For fabulous rustic bread, you merely need a dutch oven that can go to 500 degrees and the recipe for no knead bread. It's a long, slow fermentation that gives a more complex flavor and an amazing crumb. Plus, cooking dough this wet in a very hot, covered dutch oven makes for an incredible crust.

Thank you for that link. Some real nice info and recipes....

Looks like I may have a new cast iron dutch oven in my future.... :razz2:

Lol... and now we can add at least one cookbook to the wish list as well.

So.. one question. In the video that you linked @Mr Mellish they used instant yeast. Can you use regular yeast (granular) instead? The recipe calls for 2 rising cyles; the first being 12 hours and then another for 2 hours.... it would seem that regular would be okay for this.
