Amazing how life changes at the drop of a hat. I say the drop of a hat it's actually taken 16 years:smile:
Since school finished I've gone from a 72 nights a year to a 182 night a year father.
I knew the day would come when my little one would make her own mind up as to where she wanted to be.
A big change for both of us and my workflow.
Slows everything up a bit but I'll get there eventually.
New heater arrived for the big log but other things have taken precedence.

This Finned KIngwood with Blackwood is going to be the last stem for a while as I'm on a dab tool trip.

Hopefully there will be 25 dabbers with the same blade but different handles.

Cross Cut Zebrano which takes a lot of finishing given that the end grain runs down 2 sides of the handle.
A lot of sanding to get this finished after it was parged full of superglue, massive amount of tear out. Well worth the extra work.

Coolibah and Blackwood, the main body was Coolibah until it split on me. This was just a shits and giggles piece and is actually a Jr Gent pen kit.
I wouldn't make another like this and parts are en route for some other lidded pieces.

Forgot to say, yes @LesPlenty I'll tickle fancies.

Thank you @Aezhenn and fingers crossed we will be eating warm Kouign-amann again.

Purple Yew accent in the lid finishes it off nicely.

Stripey acrylic with finned ends, looks like glass in the bottom pictures.

Olivewood with brass, just messing around with this one as it used to be a stem. waste not, want not and all that...

Bamboo with a Blackwood end, there will be another piece of BW in the other end.
IMG_20210902_172658_935.jpg

Always good to say to yourself 'oooo I know'. 2 days later and the necessary parts drop through the door and Robert's your Aunty's live in lover.
I can now prep parts for the handles a lot easier.

Koa and Blackwood. Did a little swear when that little bit of BW cracked on me, my own fault and an easy rescue.

Mocked this up for shits and giggles

Then someone suggested turning the stem around and adding the cap so they sat on a magnet
IMG_20210909_161234_863.jpg

Look the part but a little squat so I made a BW tip so the cap sits correctly

Half way

I've had a couple of conversations with MADHeaters and a beta Revolve stem dropped through the door the other day.
There is a lot going on under the hood and it's easily the best looking mass produced stem especially in black.
Of course the Shadow tip and cap finishes it perfectly.

Didn't take long to dress it up a bit, Olivewood with air port.

Dabtools, I had to take a break from these as repetition is not my strong point.

Those of you who've been VC fans from the beginning will recognise this style.

Trying out ideas because there is nothing duller than doing the same thing over and over again. I had to take my lathe carriage to bits as it was causing some nasty bumps on the end of its travel.

Thank you @Helios. Great fun playing with ideas.

Yes the Revolve stem is a beta model. I made a few midsections and will possibly make a couple more.
These will also be classed as beta's.
To be honest I'm not a fan of the 'pen kit' style construction and it's why I moved to the Ti hot ends I use.

Ergonomically the Revolve feels nice in the hand and it's the nicest looking mass-produced metal stem I've seen.
The cooling section works well and you notice it straight away.
Personally, I'm not keen on sludge traps in the vapor path and the extra cleaning they require.
IMO expensive extracts are wasted if they stick to anything other than the inside of my lungs.

The spinning MP leaked but it can be locked off which makes the seal. It's something Mad Heaters are revising.

The adjustable air port also leaks which is commonplace for this type of design.
I only know of one slip ring air port that's been specifically designed to seal and I'll take the 5th on who made it.

It won't bother some people but when you prefer a fully closed port it is frustrating having to seal it by hand.
My everyday stem has no air port and the Snakewood midsection I made and used the most doesn't have one either, you still notice the cooling effect.

Not 2 write or try 2 write about my love of wood from the jungle of our planet (pale blue dot or the 3rd orbital item known as earth in some location’s) decent production of wood 4 CANNABIS is CIVILIZED 4 some bipedal Sapien’s!
Your wood work is outstanding !

@Popi its not the first time my twists and buildings have been mentioned in the same sentence.
At some point I'm going to attempt the DNA twist.

@ataxian thank you, I could spend a fortune on different pieces of wood. So many to choose from.

@Hawaii Johnny thank you. There will be more kits coming together in the future. One of which is going to be the show stopper to stop all shows.

Personally I need to be able to clear everything away in one go so I put my case together. It just needs a 2nd Bog Oak jar lid to complete it.

This one is Bocote and Blackwood.
