Tek Rosin Tek

Been getting some really nice results lately.......3.50 - 4mins is the sweet spot with this torch

squishing grinder powder (so many names ppl use and not always correctly for this so just calling powder for now) has given great results.....

Bin sharing the rosin experience with a number of friends too....

Hard on the vape/dabs conversion trail lately :)

@Baron23
or anyone else that may have advice on this

So my mate wants to chuck in for a dabpress with me

I have been looking at their site

Now what would ppl suggest out of the optiions below

https://www.dabpress.com/products/dp-hr10t35-hydraulic-ram-rosin-press-kits

this paired with this?

https://www.dabpress.com/products/d...-well-paired-with-dp-hr10t35-mini-rosin-press

OR

one of these kits - and which kit ? caged or not?

https://www.dabpress.com/collections/rosin-plates/products/dp-rp47

https://www.dabpress.com/products/dp-rp37-diy-rosin-heat-plates

paired with one of these presses - and which one of these?

Just my personal opinion, but I would go with the integrated press: https://www.dabpress.com/products/dp-hr10t35-hydraulic-ram-rosin-press-kits

IMO, almost all of the cheap presses are...well, cheap presses. They are big (VERY BIG) and in general I don't trust them under a lot of pressure. The reason people used caged plates in these type presses is that the press itself is subject to too much flexing. The NV/Dabpress type design is compact and extremely rigid and rugged. Just my view.

The dp-hr10t35 looks a LOT like the NewVape Micro20, but for a much lower price. I don't think you can beat $599 for a device like that.

NOTE:

  • Its a 10 ton hydro cylinder jack which should be way more than enough for 3 x 5 plates.
  • I have never used this press so my views are based just on published material.
  • The dabpress only has one heating cart per plate, where the Micro20 has two...but for 3 x 5 plates, that should be fine and the only impact, I should think, is that it may take a few more minutes to reach stable temp
  • For $599, it DOES NOT come with the hydro pump, as you know, and you have to buy one. I know nothing about the one shown, but have seen it used in vids for other presses. NV uses BVA and you can get a pump from them also. BVA has lifetime warranty and is consider top shelf (not sure if we need top shelf, but the BVA hydro on my Micro20 are wonderful).

Thank you for the information
I kind of felt like this was the way to go myself
But didn't want to be silly and spend money if I did not have to and if the bigger plates and diff press would be better

Will have a think though and you have probably helped me decide

I now have a harbor freight 20 ton air assist jack on my HF shop press. it's $119, but I had a coupon and picked it up in store for $89.

I removed the return springs from the jack itself, because I had to adjust it every time or it would slip out the shop press spot to keep it aligned. The spot i refer to is a welding on short pipe the the jack ram fits into. No problem either because there are return springs on the shop press itself. So it returns after you release the pressure. And it stays aligned now.

It works very well and saves me a ton of arm work. It's easy to press too much too fast though, so I've been stopping at a light resistance then warming the puck for 30 seconds, then a short blast from the air trigger, then use my arm to finish. A gauge would be helpfull, or maybe just more experince. My first press shredded a bag, from too much pressure, but the rest were good. It is loud in my pole barn, especially when on every other press my air compressor kicks on. The 175psi/45 gallon compressor gets loud, the jack itself isnt bad. I use ear protection muffs.

All in all, while probably not for everyone it fits my needs very well. I pressed 27 grams of rosin yesterday in just over half my normal time, and my arm doesn't ache.

Yo!! Wow...how much starting material did that take!! Ah, you growers....all so prolific with your herb! hahahaha :headbang:

Get dabbing - you won't regret it
I think you are right, I haven't even tried the hair straightener I bought yet or the bubble hash bags. I should just buy some dab gear to motivate myself to get cracking at it.

The hair straightener just got me started
Immediately I knew it was shite and I needed better
The slug has been serving me well, although am already looking upgrade at some point
The dab rigs happened the same way - from using free glass nails to free bangers to buying a cheap one to getting halo sic and 710 bangers happening

Get onto your bubble bags and stand on the straightener
you will love it

make some oil too with leftovers :)

@Baron23 R U making ROSIN?

Indeed I do, my friend

U have a DAB PRESS?
My press is a $15 hair straightener in my 1 ton Record Vice, have to start somewhere.
A Dabpress maybe in the future once I get hooked on Rosin as @felvapes predicts!
Once the pre-press mold and pump with gauge for Aussie buyers are worked out that is.:smilie-devil:

I found my dimmer switch. It's one of those slide models and I had a hell of a time zeroing in a temp. I need to get a better one. However, I had a pretty successful squish considering. According to my IR gun the hair iron was around 170 and the product sort of reflects it in color. But I had had it with fucking around for my first squish and just wanted to get on with it after about 1/2 hour of fiddling with the damn thing. I only had natural parchment paper... not sure if that's the 'approved' thing to use?

Natural parchment is excellent if you want to avoid bleach. Raw sells rolls of natural parchment for pressing, and it looks like you are set with what you have. Thanks for sending me over here. On page one I already learned my heat was too high, and that a dimmer can help. Great information. Thanks again.

I don’t want 2 bother let me ask U a question?
I have over 1/4# ABV I normally discard it since ROSIN is cheap 2 buy.

Should I save my ABV 2 Press?

I like the ideal of no BHO and vacuum 2 make SHATTER?
SHATTER was amazing at first until @lazylathe told me 2 try ROSIN.
ROSIN seems 2 have improved FLAVOR?
I just EJUICE with no NICOTINE 2 provide the TASTE I want? (KIEF is what I add 2 the EJUICE)
Usually my EVO QUART’S NAIL’S R used through water path?
But hey whatever floats your boat?
ROSIN is so wonderful in my view!
