Lunacy Random Thoughts

So I heard something yesterday that I thought I would never hear at an Australian Rules football preliminary final, 10's of thousands of Aussies all chanting....USA,USA,USA for a 6'11" 240 pound USA born Collingwood player!

Since we are talking about cars my current ride is my favourite & whilst I have had thoughts of a getting a new one why bother when mine makes me smile every time I drive it? I wonder what happened to my 2001 Honda Integra? That car was bulletproof just like @I'm Ron Burgundy? Civic.
That Integra probably still on the road!
I bought it from my sister in 2008 so it’s been in the family since brand new.

What vehicle do you drive now?

Mason was huge last night. A real coming of age for the bloke now he is learning to use his body. He will still have his baby giraffe moments but I am liking his aggression . Great game to watch as a neutral & seeing the tears flow from the losing fans is always sweet .

It probably is you know. The most expensive part I had to replace on it was a $5 gasket bar brake pads, tyres & fluids & I drove it for 100,000km. These days I have a French mistress Francine a Renault Clio RS . French build quality has nothing on Japanese though . She has a real personality though & with a few mods is a much better car than when I got her & launch mode is always fun.

Sounds great, got to love a hot sounding 4 pot screamer! My wife had a French fling, a Peugot 407 2.7 v6 twin turbo(also used in a Jag) that was nothing but trouble., was embarrassing, it would just pig root at 60 km/h all the time, lost $11k in 6 months when we finally gave up on it and sold it back to where we got it, never going to Gowans Toyota dealer again.

Sounds like you know all about French personality mate. I use a specialist mechanic for mine who does nothing but Renaults & really know their shit.

Yea, wow....not something I would have expected either...oh well, the way of the younglings....

I remember the USA rugby league team playing rabbits when came back in comp....they cant play without pads and did not know what to do with a sidestep let alone a chip n chase

I miss my old 76 fairlane with a 351 Clevland chromed up and acid dipped so the compression was so tight you couldnt turn the fan without a socket on the engine
Raked properly with arse up nose down for hard driving and racing hardened suspension with an extra thick stabilizer bar on the front

For a big old tank she moved that well against the young ones....

driving a bloody 1.5 l hyundai atm....reliable af and cheap on petrol, but no fun to drive

My husband and I were just talking about the cars we wish we hadn't gotten rid of.... top on my list was my '67 Camaro. Top on his list was his Karmann Ghia.

Funny how we get attachments to cars we've had in the past. When I got rid of the Camaro I thought it was a piece of shit since it would never start if the weather was damp lol. Now I'd love to drive it again. Nothing like the old V8 engine and that car could really hug the road.

Love my old V8s
If set up properly they hug the tar great

Lol... the nickname for the Camaro back then was The Hugger....
Mine was a fairlane version of the Mad Max Falcon.....Last of the V8s....LOL
Had it painted satin matt black too......
I didn't have the huge supercharger out the bonnet though - mind you even in the movie that was fake....was a stock clevland engine

The old Falcons were great for wide open roads. I remember doing a long weekend trip from Mt Isa to Ayres Rock and back in an old xy Falcon done up to look and go lake a GTHO, the only thing we did not pass on the 1500 mile trip was a gas station. We actually only got as far as the casino in Alice Springs, went to watch the start of the Finke Desert race instead. I remember stopping at a servo at 3 ways? and as I got out of the car a heap of empty VB cans rolled out onto the ground and the attendant did not nat an eyelid, seen it all before! The early 90's were fun, I think.:sifone:
There are no fences up that way and my flatmate ended up hitting a horse and writing it off!

Gee poor horse....lucky the owner didn't shoot yas...lol

Poor old ford too hahaa

The first day of my vacation and I feel awful. Went to see a Fleetwood Mac tribute band and may have overdone it. It was all I could do to stumble from my bed to my couch Sunday morning. UGH!

Was supposed to go on a 3000 mile ride with some guys, but wives and girlfriends got involved and 'they' decided to rent a couple of RV's. I don't feel comfortable riding that far by myself... Oh well.

:rip: to my liver. It was a good run buddy.

This is Tusk "The Ultimate Fleetwood Mac' Tribute Band. They opened with the Chain.
I saw them Saturday at the beautiful Acorn Theater in Three Oaks Michigan. Very, very good.
They also hung out after the show and talked with concert goers. Very nice down to earth people.

You a Bunnies man? If so hard luck on Saturday mate with those dirty Rorters getting up. Never thought I would support the Storm in 1,000,000 years but here I am. What a shit year of football .

I drive a 1.6 & she is a thirsty thing. Bloody 11-12L/100km but she is fun to drive. Nothing soaks up the km than a big falcodore I reckon. I would struggle doing a Sydney-Melbourne run in my RS but the Falcon ate it up. As @LesPlenty said they are made for the open road.

Yer not a fan of the rooters

Melbs and Brisbane same owners....both powerhouse teams tho....

I get 550 - 650 km from a 40L tank in my accent....
My old ford loved the open road - but loved the petrol station just as much....I think it took $20 bucks just to turn the key sometimes...hahaa

Lets just say they are top dog on my ladder of hated football teams. Right behind them are Brisbane, Parramatta & Melbourne . If Parra ever go good again they will take top spot on the ladder for sure . Most teams I am fairly neutral on but not those four are a different story.

It was cheaper to run my XR6 than the RS as I could put any old shit in it & it lapped it up . Nothing but BP ultimate for Francine though. She is fussy about what she drinks & I am getting about 330km out of a 40L tank of 98 premium :disgust:.

I always use 98 in my accent and in my old ford
But I had a 76 clevland - you have to use 98 as it really wanted the old school super.....

The 550 -650 I get is more highway or low traffic rates

It can be about 450 round town
400 if really bad stop start traffic

Yes
I dislike parra, rooters, manly

I rate melb and bris these days just coz they good.... but when we younger they were the out of state teams so they didn't get much from us...

Unless you have a high compression engine you are really wasting money buying premium high octane fuel. My old CBR1000f now drinks premium as I had a wiseco big bore kit installed that raised compression quite a bit, before that, regular. My bike uses more juice than my wife's car.

Well we can agree on two of those teams at least! I learnt to respect the Storm when I lived there from 2010-2014 but damm that 2007 Grand Final still holds bitter memories. I have never even thought of going to another one after that soul crushing defeat & then to see them stripped for cheating :disgust:. Melbourne are a quality team but I don't rate Brisbane or at least not the last decade.

Oh yeah

This I have heard off some mechanics, and then I have heard different off others
I think top gear or a show similar did it once - but it is not the same results for all

The way I do know that using 98 in my 1.5L 4 cylinder accentis beneficial is that I get more Ks per tank - I am nerdy that way and check each tank and did trial 91, 95 and 98

You are correct usually and technically I should not get these results - but I do as does my mate in his 1.6L getz and the rio he is now driving

So I don't know, unless the servo's are just giving us shitty fuel with water in it except in the 98

I do know that my accent will run on 91, but it runs further on 98 and the money/ks maths work out

My '76 351 needed 98 - If I gave her 95 or 91 it pinged and sputtered and hated me
But it was made in the era of super with lead in it..... I never had to use those shit additives though - they are a rort for the most part and can actually kill the seals too instead of protect them....
Better just putting hardened seals in when the old ones go or when restoring

NEVER use 91 plus 10% ethanol - that shit will fry your engine and kill the seals - esp in a motorbike.... Grew up in a sidecar - My old man has re geared and worked his mix of a K7 K4 and K1 honda bikes....can take some of the new bikes at the lights...the looks the young fullas have when this old shitty looking bike with a grey old man beats their new racer...
But yer 91with 10%ethanol killed his engine once he had to overhaul the whole thing

So you do not need to use 98 in a small car but can still get better distance if you do...

It is true some cars will ping using 98 though as it is too much for them - sometimes regapping spark plugs can fix this

@Stevenski hahahaa at the manly hates me too.....My ex brother in law is a manly supporter too - we give each other shite...
I used to back newcastle too, still remember the 98 grand final against manly - I am jumping on a table in the workers club in the footage of that game on tele...hahaa

Yes you are right I agree broncos are not so hot last so many years - I prob rate brisbane state of origin team more than broncos
