Grow Something completely different

Topped all the main branches once more on the first 3 girls, last time topping, now time to let them recover and start some new growth in those spots. Flipping to 12/12 wont be long. The church is still slow going trying to catch up. Not sure what I'm going to do with her now, so far behind =/ Still feeding 1/4 tsp / gallon.

Second round of topping has commenced. I still need to pull a couple of tops off as they were a couple days behind the other branches due to the bush covering the lower growth, now the tops are starting to reach up above their canopy and showing me where the topping needs. These babies, ahem, these are nearly adults, are squat from LST, not very high at all. I plan to have the screen not more than about 8-9" above the medium so everything will be very short and evenly spread.

The church is looking great, also getting 1/4 tsp/gal like her sisters, still waiting to start LST'ing the branches.

So far I am really impressed with the OHS's branching and how she is filling out from LST. Probably the best of the lot with the cheese coming in 2nd, the Bruce Banger is not as full of foliage but I expect that'll all change once I get them under the screens and flipped.

I did order a scrog pro for my 4x4', it clamps on the poles in the corners. I am probably going to replace the wide trellis with screws and rope and make the holes smaller, like 2.5-3" square.

Here's the girls, all still running under a single SP-250 LED, won't be hooking up the 2nd until I get the screen im place and get them under it in their flowering positions.

My well water is about 250ish ppm and 7.1 PH out of the tap. I do nothing to my water to prepare it for my plants except add in Jacks Professional 20-20-20 fertilizer with warm water to dissolve, then feed. Plants are in a peat based medium void of nutrients (sunshine mix #4), this is @arb's method and I can tell you these plants are healthy now that I'm not over feeding them! I have no idea how much 1/4 tsp of fertilizer costs, the 25lb bag was $50, all I know is this is enough fertilizer to last me a decade.

They are looking enviable, @psychonaut. Very healthy.

This grow is likely destroyed. Had a huge hail storm yesterday that destroyed out outdoor garden and my grow space got water damage and the GFCI tripped due yesterday at 4PM so the babies had 15 hours of darkness. I'll watch them for a few days but I think I'll be starting some new seed.

I'm so disappointed right now...

Oh no
So sorry to hear mate
I hope you are lucky and can nurse some back to health

@Madri-Gal I knew of the outdoor garden last night, totally bummed me and the wife we had started a lot of those plants by seed, and had some san marzano tomatoes and a bunch of heirlooms like watermelon and such. A lot of them we started indoors in May.

Mother nature, I love you, but you hurt me this time!

@psychonaut Sorry to hear about that. Those babies are resilient though, I’m sure you could pull some back into life. Maybe it was just a sign to go ahead and flip. Good luck !

Thanks, I think you are right, I started the flip so they'll have over 24hrs of darkness, should be fine, the church was nowhere near ready for flip but cest la vie

The emotions were talking the other day, here they are after a couple days from being flipped, they had just a little over 24hrs darkness and then went on a 12/12 schedule to salvage the weeks spent vegging. I had planned on flipping them a week after the last topping but that actually happened a little over a day after my last topping so we shall see how they fill out, I think there's a lot of coverage so far and expect they'll fill in decently over the next 2-3 weeks as they stretch.

Still feeding 1/4 tsp gal, the leaves look like they're still getting a little too much nutrients, going to keep feeding 1/4 tsp/gal as it doesn't seem to be affecting them much and perhaps they'll eventually take it without showing any burn.

Still waiting on the screen, should be here tomorrow.

SCRoG pro corner mounting trellis system installed, personally, being more inclined to save money instead of spend it, I wish I had just built my own. Some things I really do like, the way they connect at the corners and they hold very tight. The PVC pipes are connected into the corners with square plastic plugs that lock in. Sliding them up or down to make fine adjustments after mounted is not hard but definitely requires some force. The trellis I am not a fan of and I may cut it out before I start, it is really blocking the light below them. I have a clear trellis I can put in it's place. The girls still have about another 2" to reach the net. I have the net at 8" above the soil line.

Dropped the net to 5" above the medium it allowed me to start spreading the limbs around. Light getting to all the new shoots will help them catch up to the net. Also seems to be shading less of the plant now.

I may raise it some, experimenting.

I am going to proceed with this less than ideal netting material. I highly recommend that scrog-pro changes the netting to something more a) sustainable, b) eco-friendly, c) thinner, and d) effective

That being said, I have decided the smaller holes are better than the rope mesh that I have which is 4x4" holes, too large based on my mentor's advice.

The girls are stretching but taking their time, most of the side brances are still growing vertical though I am encouraging horizontal growth to provide light to the lower nodes and get them to create nice side branching for buds.

I figure there is still another 1-2 weeks of stetch, the nice thing about the screen is you have a fixed height, so the stretch doesn't determine the height of the tops so much as the horizontal filling out under the screen.

So far so good, I wish the plants would stretch more! Maybe I'm impatient. Having lost 2 nice sized plants last time has me a bit more anxious than normal.

I repositioned the netting so it is about 6" above the medium line. I definitely need to rig up a watering system as feeding with my can is virtually impossible without making some PVC watering pipe or something equivilant.

Right at about 2 weeks from flip, will see how much more they stretch. Still on 1/4 tsp a gallon. I have some Jacks Classic Houseplant Special 15-30-15, thinking about giving that a go during bloom once stretch is over, hmmm. @arb would say no! lol
